The Unique Mediterranean diet is the queen of diets, the best known in the universe of being. What is a source of beneficial effects for health, had already been amply demonstrated. Now it seems that our diets do indeed increase the life expectancy of two to three years.
According to what is revealed by a study carried out by scholars of the Sahlgrenska Academy University of Gothenburg in Sweden, consistently taking fruit, vegetables, fish and sometimes pasta, while reducing the amount of animal products, it helps to "earn" a few more years of life.
The study, published in the journal "Age" and coordinated by an Italian, Gianluca Tognon, was conducted on two groups of Swedish seventies, one of which had adopted the Mediterranean diet (rich in fish, fruit and vegetables), while the second continued to follow a diet rich in animal protein such as meat and milk. The result was clear: those who brought food to the table the typical Mediterranean diet had a higher probability of living 20% longer. "This means in practice" - Tognon says - "that older people who follow a Mediterranean diet live about 2-3 years older than those that do not follow it." These data are confirmed by three other studies not yet published, the third of such an analysis conducted on children's health. "The conclusion we can draw from all these studies is that there is no doubt that the Unique Mediterranean diet is linked to better health, not only for the elderly, but also for young people," said Tognon.
Good news for all lovers of the Unique Mediterranean diet, they can continue to enjoy the typical dishes of our cuisine also obtaining an anti-aging!
